What is this funding opportunity?
Leeds City Council has secured grant funding from the UK Government to fund the giveaway of a pack of 5 fruit trees (“maidens” 1 metre high) with stakes and ties between November 2024 and March 2025.
This funding has been provided by the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) as part of their ‘Coronation Living Heritage Fund’ to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.
Any Leeds-based community group, club, or third-sector organisation can apply now to receive a fruit tree pack for publicly accessible land within the Leeds district. The closing date for applications to be made is 28th July 2024.
The grant is on a first come first served basis, but we do need to ask you some questions about your intentions to ensure you are eligible. We will supply some guidance / weblinks on how you should plant your trees.
When will I know if my application is successful?
The Council’s Climate, Energy & Green Spaces team will review all applications submitted before the closing date for eligibility.
All applicants will be notified whether their application is successful and advised of next steps before 30th August 2024.
