Introduction
Leeds City Council needs to save £118.8 million for the period 2021-2022. This is due to the unexpected cost of Covid, but also due to the on-going funding reduction from Central Government. As part of this, Customer Services, who manage libraries, need to save £1.5 million.
Currently, our opening days and hours are varied across Leeds. By standardising them:
- Citizens will be confident in knowing when Community Hubs & Libraries are open, in any location.
- We will be able to make savings in staffing costs, by letting those staff leave voluntarily, who want to.
By changing our opening hours this enables us to keep our libraries open across the city. If we don’t change our opening hours, the alternative may be that we are no longer able to run all of our libraries.
By filling in this survey, you will help us decide how best to standardise our opening days and hours.
